Questions? We've got answers.

We have tried to make our website as informative as possible and list information in several different places so it is easy to find. However we understand that when publishing your work you want to be careful and know exactly where and to whom you are sending your story/art. Here are some questions we know you will want answers to:

01

What is the purpose of the journal?

The Cloak Review came about as an assignment for an upper-level English class at Washington State University. The class objective is to design a literary arts journal and everything that goes along with it throughout the duration of the semester. We need submissions from you wonderful authors and artists to make this journal a reality!

02

Who will be reading my work?

The journal is published at Washington State University, so mainly students, staff, and faculty. A PDF version of the journal will also be uploaded on the website for the public at large to view. The Cloak Review team will be reading and publishing your work.

03

If I submit my work will it automatically be in the journal?

Unfortunately, not every submission will be chosen for publication depending upon the number of submissions we recieve. The team deals with each submission on a case-by-case basis. On account of this, you are encouraged to submit into a number of categories.  The Cloak Review staff is very open-minded, so don’t be shy!

04

When is the deadline to submit my work?

November 10th is when we officially stop taking submissions, but if we don’t have enough we will consider extending the deadline by a couple of days. If you are late with your submission, send us an email asking if it’s not too late to send in your work.

05

What if I'm not sure if my story qualifies to be a part of the journal?

We need your submissions to make this project successful. When in doubt send us an email or just submit it anyway! If it doesn’t fit our criteria we will let you know within two weeks with no harm done. Officially, we accept submissions that cover suspense, mystery, etc. That doesn’t necessarily mean that the purpose of your submission is solely to create suspense or mystery. For example, you could include a work that involves suspense or mystery, but has another underlying meaning.
